Its mission is to share these explorations to help others realize the enjoyment and bliss that's behind the curtain of life's play.

artful living

From traditional yogic sciences to meditation practices, from sufi poetry to buddha dharma, from sound and music to dancing, babalife explores the beauty and practicality of different approaches to artful living without subscribing to any one belief, doctrine, or sect.

Yoga

The biggest obstacle in enjoying life ‘as it is’ lies in our mind and its habit patterns. The practice of Yoga, as exposed by Patanjali, gives us the tools to free ourselves from the conditioning and habituation of mind so we can return to our natural peaceful state and experience fully the beauty of life.

In my journey along the path of Yoga, I've encountered various teachers and methodologies. However, it wasn’t until studying and assisting Sharat Arora, a direct student of BKS Iyengar, that I witnessed firsthand the profound healing effects of correct Asanas. This therapeutic approach integrates Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga in a practical way, fostering not only physical balance and harmony but also extending to mental well-being.

With Yoga going mainstream, this focus has fallen at the background of gymnastic/circus-like physical postures and exercises boasting flexibility and strength. I don’t mean to say that there is anything wrong in exercising for strength or flexibility, but that has never been the purpose of Yoga practice. In fact, Yoga Asana (postures) are a useful technology which, when practiced correctly, can dissolve obstacles in accessing deeper aspects of self.

After guiding hundreds of students through countless courses while serving at his Yoga center, I've gained insights into my own body and mind, as well as those of others. While I acknowledge there's still much to learn, I'm dedicated to sharing what I do know as I continue exploring the path.

Nothing brings me greater joy than assisting others in reconnecting with their innate relaxed and peaceful nature while taking care of physical limitations in a practical and safe manner.

Meditation

“Meditation is the discovery that the point of life is always arrived at in the immediate moment.”

Alan Watts

Meditation is not different nor separate from Yoga practice. The Patanjali Yoga Sutras refrain from prescribing any singular technique, acknowledging instead a variety of methods to concentrate the mind and make it one-pointed. In my journey, Vipassana technique as taught by SN Goenka and the Sattipathana Sutta (Buddha's discourse on establishing awareness), provided the foundational pillars for integrating meditation and mindfulness into daily life.

Drawing from my own experience as a practitioner and guide, I am confident in my ability to assist you in establishing a meaningful and sustainable meditation practice.

Sound

'Music without words means leaving behind the mind.

And leaving behind the mind is meditation.

Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound.

Kabir

While explorations on sound are still ongoing, you can listen to this podcast episode made in collaboration with my गुरुभाई(Guru Bhaai) Chaitanyashree. He's a seasoned baba with profound expertise in sound and music as a means to reconnect with our innate state of peace.

who am I ?

In everyday life, I’m Vishal, born in the Atacama desert with Peruvian and Indian roots. Growing up, my family moved around a lot until we settled in the Ecuadorian Andes. Coming from different backgrounds, born in one place, and raised in another, I searched for belonging early on. Little did I know, feeling different from others would lead me to explore the path of non-duality.

As I entered adulthood, I pursued academia, believing it would give me purpose and a sense of belonging. Despite appearing noble on paper, I still felt incomplete. I tried many things to fill this emptiness leading me only to unsustainable living habits and the darkest point of my life.

A lifelong seeker, practitioner, and student of the ‘the way’

In today's fast-paced world, fear and anxiety cloud our innate tranquility. Having experienced it firsthand and observed it in others, I firmly believe we all have the capacity to return to our natural serene state. Guiding others towards peaceful and relaxed living is now my greatest passion, so that we all can live in peace in harmony.

It was during this time that Yoga entered my life, revealing a natural sense of peace and relaxation without the need for stimulants. This peaked my curiosity on life's inner dimensions and started my journey learning different Yoga and meditation techniques under different teachers. With their grace, I’ve cultivated a practice that brings balance and harmony to my life, nurturing both body and mind. While I don't claim enlightenment, this journey has brought me profound peace and contentment with life as it is.
